Work at Height Training

Falls from height remain the most common cause of workplace fatality with over 35 fatalities, over 4500 major injuries and 7000 injuries leading to 3 or more days off work every year.

As part of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 those involved in work at height must be competent.
What is ‘work at height’?

Regulation 2
A place is ‘at height’ if a person could be injured falling from it, even if it is at or below ground level.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury. They place duties on employers, the selfemployed, and any person who controls the work of others (eg facilities managers or building owners who may contract others to work at height) to the extent they control the work

HA1 - Height Safety Competency

Where single FPE provision for a single work environment, with standard equipment specific to the work and environment does not describe your working at height practice then further competency training will be required.

Working at height in multiple locations will require continuous assessment of the equipment required, selection and often the installation of suitable anchorage points and the understanding of the legislation covering the practice.

The use of different FPE for the provision of safe access and work for yourself and personnel responsible to you is often complex.

Ensuring that your competency level or that of your designated responsible person is high enough is essential to the continued effective protection for your workers while at height.

Attendees must be physically fit, and when attending the course should come equipped with the standard equipment supplied to them by their company.
